Can't ever go too far wrong with Meryl Streep and/or Philip Seymour Hoffman ... both getting a lot of buzz; strangely, though, not so much in the way of push in advertising out here.
If you haven't yet seen "Gran Torino" ... do not miss it ... definite Oscar material foe Eastwood on several levels ... Todd says a must see is "the Curious Case of Benjamin Button" ... also saw "Valkyrie" ... eh ! I am a history buff, but not particularly fond of Tom Cruise ... not great, but OK ... I'd rather see a documentary of the events though ! And finally, if you want to see "The Day the Earth Stood Still" ... one of my all time favorites ... see the original, not the piece of crap remake. This is one that proves the axiom that remakes generally stink and to make matters worst the original Gort outshines Keanu Reeves as an actor ... in anything !!
I would have to agree with you on "The Day the Earth Stood Still" for sure. Odd, very odd.
I refuse to support Tom Cruise in any of his work. Even if the movie was stellar I wouldn't see it.
I wanted to see "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", but with movie tickets at $10, I have to be selective on what I go to the theater to see. A friend of mine and I have movie night about once a month and "Gran Torino" is on my list of must-sees. Thanks for the advice!
